GTBFC is very happy to announce the hiring of its new Recreational Director – Frank Coorey. We have seen a significant increase in our recreational player membership in both the Fall and Spring Programs for in-house and TARSA play.
REGISTRATION CLOSES: Sunday Sept 21
In House League kicks off: Oct 18, 2014 - Feb 28, 2015
(Games are only on Saturdays)
Training is once a week starting week of Oct 6, 2014.
The team coach will decide the day and time after teams are assembled.
Our in-house game rules for Under 6, 8, 10 & 12 complies with USSF Guidelines with respect to small sided games to accomplish the following goals:
1. Ensure our players become more involved in the play.
2. Provide more opportunity to touch the ball.
3. Encourage players to confidently make good decisions with respect to receiving and passing the ball and encourage more goal scoring.
We identified many players that exhibit the characteristics needed to play at a higher level and have provided some free coaching sessions with our Academy Coaching Staff. Our goal is to build our Academy and Competitive Programs primarily from our own in-house players. This approach has borne fruit with our 2014 Academy and Competitive season.
In the Fall 2014 season, we anticipate further growth in our Recreation numbers – we have the capacity to accommodate more players and believe for the Club to flourish we need a healthy, well organized Recreational Program. Our goals are to:
1. Encourage as many players as possible to enjoy the greatest team sport in the world.
2. Create a fun environment for all of our players so that they retain an interest in playing.
3. Develop Programs to develop our volunteer Coaching staff so they, in turn, can improve their players.
Starting this year our volunteer coaches this year will enjoy:
A coaching clinic prior to the start of the season. The clinic will be broken down into 3 different hour and a half sessions. One for each of the age groups so the coaches can receive technical age appropriate training U6-U8, U10-U12, and U14 and up.
A similar additional review session is to be performed the first week back to training in January
Each age group will receive a coaching lesson plan for the week. This way everyone is running the same training program and ensuring the coaches are following what we want in terms of player development.
Provide specific attention to the U7 and U8 age groups as we prepare them for the Academy program, while consistently identifying high level players in the program referring them to the Academy and Competitive Directors.
Be at the fields on a regular basis running training sessions for all the different age groups.
Instructing coaches on the proper technique for practices in addition to showing the players a higher level of coaching.

NOTE: We have received questions about the U12 Group and whether they would be playing in-house or TARSA. As long as the numbers allow, we will try to keep the U12 Group in-house.
